Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between individual preferences and the choice of alternative routes. In addition, this study wants to find variables that significantly affect the selection of alternative routes. Furthermore, analyzing the sensitivity of alternative route development. This study uses questionnaires and interviews to use a survey method with data collection techniques. The number of samples used is 250 respondents. This study presents three alternative route options to respondents. The data analyzed is used is the conditional logit model with STATA software. The data obtained from the survey results are quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative data includes age, distance and travel time, income, and transportation costs. At the same time, the qualitative data includes gender, occupation, education, travel destination, and the main reasons residents choose alternative routes of Makassar, Maros, and Gowa. The existence of differences in the level of service of each alternative route and differences in the socio-economic conditions of road users will affect their selection. The results showed that road users were more likely to choose the first alternative route. Time and cost are significant variables for road users in determining alternative routes. The route choice between alternatives has a significant effect if the cost variable is added to each of these alternatives. Therefore, further research is needed by including other factors that have not been analyzed in this study. Furthermore, it is necessary to choose another alternative route in Makassar City. In addition, it is suggested that the government pay more attention to the feasibility of the policies taken in overcoming the congestion problem in Makassar City.
