Abstract

This study aims to identify types of polymers to reduce the release of active ingredients and maximize fertilizer nutrition. This type of research is a literature study. The results showed that polysulfone, polyacrylate/poly (silicone-co-acrylate), chitosan, polyhydroxybutyrate, k-carrageen (CBH), polystyrene, and starch are polymers that can be used as coatings on slow-release fertilizers. The resulting characterization can use UV-Vis spectrophotometry, FTIR, and SEM. Therefore, it is recommended that farmers apply polymers to slow-release fertilizers to increase agricultural yields without wasting the use of fertilizers.
